A Comcast Business price increase rarely arrives as a big announcement. Comcast’s own terms say the notice can be included in your invoice, so it’s easy to miss. Before you pay the new rate, here’s what Comcast’s terms allow, the window you have to act, and how to push back without switching providers.

Short answer: Under Comcast Business’s customer terms, Comcast can change internet charges after your initial term ends, and other services at any time, with 30 days’ written notice that can come on your bill. You then have 30 days to cancel the affected service without termination charges, and that window gives you leverage. One of our clients cut its Comcast bill about 50% without switching.

How Comcast Business price increases work

Here’s what the Comcast Business Customer Terms and Conditions (version 46) say:

  • Internet: monthly charges can change only after your initial service term expires.
  • Voice, TV, and other services: monthly charges can change at any time, including during your term.
  • Notice: Comcast gives 30 days’ prior written notice, which can be included in your invoice.
  • Fees and equipment: taxes and fees can change separately, and Comcast can change equipment charges on notice.

The 30-day window most businesses miss

When Comcast notifies you of a change in your monthly charges, its terms give you 30 days from receiving the notice to cancel the affected service without termination charges. If you don’t act, you’re treated as accepting the new price.

That window is your leverage. You can negotiate knowing you have the option to leave without a termination charge.

Your contract renews automatically

If your service order doesn’t list a term, Comcast’s terms set it at one year. When the term ends, service renews for another year, again and again, unless you or Comcast gives written notice at least 30 days before the current term ends. If you leave early without cause, termination charges are based on the months left in your initial term.

What to do before you pay the new rate

1. Find the notice and the date

Check the message section of your recent Comcast invoices. Note the date you received the notice, since your 30-day window starts then.

2. Compare invoices line by line

Separate the service charges from taxes, fees, and equipment charges, and note which ones changed.

3. Make sure your plan still fits

Outdated speed tiers and old equipment are common. Sometimes you can get faster service for less.

4. Check your equipment charges

Make sure you’re only paying for equipment you actually have. Comcast’s terms allow it to keep billing the monthly fee for equipment that isn’t returned, so returned equipment should come off your bill.

5. Ask for a reversal and a rate lock, in writing

Ask Comcast to reverse the increase and lock your rate for a set term, and get it in writing before your 30-day window closes.

What this looks like with real Comcast bills

  • Fusion Chiropractor Spa was paying $2,838 a month for Comcast phone and internet. We cut its monthly spend about 50% and doubled its internet speeds, saving about $50,000 over a three-year term.
  • Gardens Sun Terrace HOA, an 84-home community, was told its Comcast bulk TV contract couldn’t be renegotiated. We found discounts the board didn’t know about, upgraded its TV package and equipment, and saved $62,280 over its six-year contract.

When to hand it off

We review your Comcast invoices line by line, negotiate directly with Comcast, and keep your service the same. We also review up to 36 months of past invoices to recover overcharges you’ve already paid. See how we lower telecom bills.

You keep 60% of every dollar saved, there’s no upfront fee, and if we find no savings, you pay nothing.
